IPOH: The Perak government has held discussions with the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) regarding the flight route from Ipoh to Bangkok, Thailand, which will be implemented soon.
State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee said that this is because there are airlines in Thailand which are actively promoting various tour packages to attract tourists from that country to Perak.
“State tourism industry players are also asked to learn some dialects of the Thai language as well as customs and culture, in preparation for receiving the influx of tourists from Thailand. This makes it easier for tourism players to connect with Thai tourists more effectively.
“Apart from traditional tourists, such as from China, we want to attract as many tourists as possible from Thailand, considering that Perak shares a border with Thailand,” he told reporters, after officiating the 31st Perak Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair, at the Ipoh Convention Centre, here on Sunday (Aug 13).
Earlier Loh, in his speech, said that the state government was focusing on developing more tourism attraction products by paying more attention to initiatives, and more aggressively promoting tourism products in the state.
“We will pay more attention by highlighting the uniqueness, in terms of nature, food, heritage and culture, of the local community.
“I hope that tourism operators will continue to work harder to strengthen branding and marketing promotions which are unique and synonymous with Perak, so as to leave a better impact, and stimulate tourists to continue returning to the state repeatedly,” he said.
